Things people ask.

Which phones does it work with?

It doesn’t need a phone at all! Snug Mini is a completely standalone device.

But it’s MagSafe compatible, so you can magnet it to anything magnetic, including any iPhone with MagSafe (iPhone 12 and up). And MagSafe cases too.

Do I need to know how to use Android?

Not at all. In fact, you won’t even know you’re using Android. We just use it under the hood so you can install your favorite reading app and get to your existing library.

Do I need to do computer stuff to set it up?

Nope. Just turn it on and log in to Kindle or Libby. Or add some ebook files to the SD card.

Is it basically a Kindle?

Rude. But yeah, pretty much. Just a lot smaller, way cheaper, not locked down, and with a similar kind of E Ink screen.

Can I add other Android apps?

We got the Kindle and Libby apps to work nicely. Under the hood, the Snug is running Android, so in theory you can install any Android app. But the Snug is for reading and it sucks for scrolling and chatting.

That’s kinda the point.

Sliding a microSD card into the side of a black Snug Mini showing a custom home screen

Open source and very hackable.

Root it, flash it, vibe code on it. If that means anything to you, you’re in the right place.

  • Fully open source

The whole OS is up on GitHub with an MIT license. PRs welcome, etc.

  • Android inside

That’s how Kindle and Libby run on it, plus any reading app you like.

  • Hackable

Sideload apps, swap the launcher, or vibe code a whole new OS.

  • microSD slot

You can sync books in, or just put them onto the SD card. No account needed.

More reading. Less scrolling.
